In May 2026, Pennsylvania’s Infant/Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation (IECMHC) program proudly celebrates 20 years of supporting young children, families, and the early childhood professionals who care for them every day.

For two decades, IECMHC has worked alongside Pennsylvania child care providers, educators, and families to help young children build strong social and emotional skills, the foundation for lifelong learning and healthy relationships. Caring consultants partner with adults in children’s lives to strengthen positive caregiver-child connections, support nurturing classroom environments, and better understand children’s feelings and behaviors. Together, they work to ensure every child has the opportunity to grow, learn, and thrive.

What began as a small effort in just two regions has grown into a trusted, statewide program recognized nationwide. Thanks to the ongoing support of the Pennsylvania Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL), IECMHC has reached thousands of families and educators. Over the past 20 years, we have worked with more than 7,400 children, partnered with nearly 14,900 early care and education professionals, and positively impacted close to 60,000 children in classrooms receiving consultation services.

Most importantly, IECMHC is here for families, too. If you have concerns about your child’s behavior, emotions, or development, or simply want guidance on how to support your child through challenges, you are not alone. IECMHC can connect families with helpful resources, offer strategies to support children’s well-being, and work with your child’s early learning program to ensure consistent, supportive care.

As we celebrate this milestone, we are grateful to the families, educators, and community partners who have been part of this journey. Your trust, collaboration, and dedication have helped build a stronger, more supportive system for Pennsylvania’s youngest children.

Here’s to continuing our shared commitment to helping every child feel safe, supported, and ready to succeed.
