The chance to be a part of something great

My name is Nikki D. I am a stay-at-home mom to four beautiful children.

I started my journey at the young age of 17 when I had my oldest child. I was clueless and didn’t know much about parenting or any of the amazing resources out there for families with young children until I came across the Early Head Start and Parents as Teachers programs. As a result, I have served on many committees and worked on several projects at the local, state, and federal levels.

I have gained so much confidence and have learned so many new things. I learned as a parent that I have a voice, to help make informed decisions not only for myself and my family but for other families as well. I can bring new ideas to the table and collaborate with staff, teachers, committee members and community members to help make learning a wonderful experience for everyone.

I am grateful for this experience and am confident that my journey will continue to be successful because of these wonderful programs and I look forward to sharing it with other families so they can have the chance to be a part of something great as well.
