An Early Intervention Professionals (Infant Toddler home visitors) in Luzerne County shares a conversation with a family she serves.
Shaun had invited me to visit with the family six months after his transition to the preschool EI program.
She had prefaced the invitation with wanting to show me how well he was doing. Knowing he had many new interventionists at the preschool level and different supports in his schedule, I asked what she felt was leading to his great success in learning many new signs to communicate with his family.
Shauna proudly explained that she had continued to use techniques we had taught her to expand his communication skills. Shauna was able to tell me that his attention to her and purposeful play with others in the family had grown.
I then asked what she thought was the most valuable tool we had given her, she responded “confidence”.
