Provider Stories|

Each month, Early Learning Resource Centers are asked to nominate an early learning program for accomplishments they’ve recently made to spotlight on the PA’s Promise for Children website.

The following provider was nominated by their Early Learning Resource Center for the month of April 2019.

Provider: Brenda Clinton Family Child Care, York County

Brenda Clinton was first licensed in October 1999. In 2004, Brenda was an original pilot site when Family Child Care providers were added to Keystone STARS. She has consistently participated in STARS since then.

With the help of the T.E.A.C.H. (Teacher Education And Compensation Helps) Early Childhood® PENNSYLVANIA Scholarship Program, she earned her Associates Degree from Penn State University in 2006.

In 2012, she earned her bachelor’s degree also from Penn State University. During this time and for she maintained her Keystone STAR 3 status and although her Environment Rating Scale (ERS) scores were above 5.25-high enough for STAR 4, she didn’t feel ready to meet the standards for STAR 4.

This fiscal year with the new standards she felt ready to meet the standards and is now Keystone STAR 4.

Environment Rating Scales are designed to assess quality in an early childhood or school age care group.
