  • Host a celebration at your program for teachers and families in honor of PA’s Promise Month. You can use our PA’s Promise certificates as one way to show your appreciation for the teachers and/or families in your program. Perhaps you host a special breakfast or reception at the end of the day. You can also invite a supportive legislator or school district superintendent to share a few words of thanks and congratulations. You can also invite the media to cover the event, and send photos and a press release to media after the event.

  • Have an “I have the promise to be” classroom project and share the artwork with school and community leaders. You could ask children to dress as what they want to be when they grow up and take pictures of the children. Children and parents can fill out “I have the promise to be” notecards and attach the photos to the front. Have the children or parents write inside the notecard what early education means to them. You can send these to legislators, the Governor, and school and community leadership.

  • Coordinate readings by local VIPs at area early learning programs. There is no book selected as reading material for PA’s Promise Month, but you can select a book for your county or leave it to the decision of each classroom. Readings by county officials, legislators, business and school leadership are an excellent opportunity to show off the great work in the programs to our leaders and generate a great press opportunity.
  • Ask your county commissioners to issue proclamation for PA’s Promise Month. County commissioners often will issue proclamations in honor of weeks such as Week of the Young Child, why not issue a proclamation for PA’s Promise for Children Month.
