There were Stripes of all Types at the beautiful setting of the Homewood Branch of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh on April 25, 2014.
Susan Stockdale entertained and informed over 30 people during her visit. Her beautiful illustrations in this book and her thorough research impressed everyone who participated in this event.
Susan talked about the process of creating the illustrations and the variety of experts with whom she collaborates to bring her books to life accurately.
The PA One Book, Every Young Child is Pennsylvania’s collaborative project using the vehicle of “One Book, One State” program to highlight the importance of early literacy development.
This is the ninth year that the One Book, Every Young Child program has promoted the importance of early literacy by emphasizing the importance of reading early and often to children, as well as engaging them in conversation and other activities around books.
This year’s PA One Book selection Stripes of All Types, by author Susan Stockdale explores through engaging rhymes and bright, bold images how animals around the world benefit from their stripes.
Every person in the audience at the April 25 event was engaged and happy to receive a book.
