Get you child’s bike ready for summer riding fun (and safety). FREE EVENT!

  • Bike tune up courtesy of Indiana Schwinn
  • Helmet Fit courtesy of Indiana County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana Borough Police, and IUP Police.
  • Please bring your child’s helmet to be properly fitted.
  • Ride the Bicycle Safety Course Challenge! Receive an official certificate from local law enforcement upon successful completion!
  • ATV Safety Demonstration courtesy of Nathanael Arthurs, certified instructor.

Water and light snacks provided courtesy of IRMC.

Don’t have a helmet?
A limited number of free helmets will be distributed (courtesy of State Farm Agent Margy Gray and the Safe Children’s Network). HELMETS WILL BE GIVEN ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVED BASIS. Those who pre-register are more likely to get a helmet.

Don’t have a bike?
A limited number of bikes will be on loan for your use on the safety course (courtesy of Evergreen Boys & Girls Clubs of Indiana County.) TRIKES too… for the youngest participants (courtesy of Indi Kids).

  • Homer Center: Mar 1st;
  • Marion Center: Mar 9th;
  • Penns Manor: Mar 10th;
  • United: Mar 21st and 22nd;
  • Indiana: Mar 27th and 28th;
  • Blairsville: Mar 29th; and
  • Saltsburg: April 12th;

Check with each school to see what is needed from the parents at each registration and for more specific information about their registration.

For moms, moms-to-be… and daddies and grandparents too! Plus, there will be information on children’s services in Indiana County for expectant families and families with young children. And MORE!

YMCA of the USA has designated Saturday, April 29, 2015, as Healthy Kids Day (HKD). Local Ys across the nation will host Healthy Kids Day events as a way of helping kids bridge gaps in health and learning that prevent them from reaching their full potential.

Stop by the YMCA of Indiana County on April 29th for fun, games and surprises. HKD is free to the community.

Jadelyn is a Spark that Shines!

I am proud to nominate my daughter, Jadelyn, as a Shining STAR. She is currently enrolled at Learning Lamp at the Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center (GJCTC), a Keystone STAR 4 program, since August of 2011 for kindergarten readiness.

I have seen firsthand how much my five-year-old has grown academically and independently; as well as, her social and communication skills have improved tremendously over an eight month time span. To tell you a little bit about Jadelyn; she is very shy around others but slowly warms up when comfortably in your presence. When initially starting Learning Lamp, she cried and did not want me to leave. (more…)
